The short version: your voice never leaves your Mac, and we are careful to tell you the one place that is not true.
Hushbird transcribes speech and generates its reading voice entirely on your own machine, using models that run locally. Your audio is never uploaded, never stored on our servers, and never sent to any third party. There is no account, no cloud sync, and no telemetry. Your dictation history lives in a file on your Mac and nowhere else. If you delete the app, it goes with it.
The try-it demo on this website is not the app. If you click the microphone in the demo on our home page, that clip is sent to a cloud speech service (ElevenLabs) to transcribe, because a browser is not your Mac. The same is true of the "hear it" reading demo. Those clips are not stored by us. We disclose this on the page itself, next to the button.
Nothing you dictate inside the app ever travels this path.
Buying a license is the only time we hold data about you. We store:
That is the entire list. We do not build a profile, we do not track your usage, and we have nothing to sell to anyone.
We never see your card. Payments are handled by Stripe, which acts as merchant of record and holds your payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive only the email address attached to the purchase.
We email you exactly once: your license key. We do not run a mailing list and we will not market to you. If you write to support, we keep that conversation so we can help you.
Write to support@hushbird.app and we will tell you everything we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Deleting your license record means your key stops working, so we will check that you mean it.
